Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, and to send back to that website on later visits or requests. Cookies are commonly used to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, or recognize your device.
Browsers also support similar technologies, such as local storage, which let a website store small pieces of data directly in your browser. Local storage works differently from a cookie: it is not automatically sent to us with every request, and it is only readable by the site that created it. This policy covers both cookies and this kind of local browser storage, since both involve data kept on your device to support your use of the Service.
The Service currently uses only essential, first-party cookies and local storage described below. We do not currently use any analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party tracking technologies.
How We Use Them
Essential Cookies
We set the following essential cookies to run sign-in, sessions, and guest continuity on the Service. These are strictly necessary for the site to work as intended, and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking:
- fx_token — your sign-in/session token, keeping you logged in.
- fx_uid — your account's internal user ID, used to restore your signed-in state.
- fx_email — your account email, used to restore your signed-in state across visits.
- fx_guest — a persistent anonymous guest identifier, so your in-progress results are not lost if you have not yet created an account.
Local Browser Storage (Not Cookies)
In addition to cookies, we use two pieces of local browser storage for functional purposes. Neither of these is a cookie, and neither is sent to our servers automatically:
- fx_quiz_draft — stored locally in your browser to save your in-progress quiz answers, so you can resume where you left off.
- celestype.cookieConsent — stored locally in your browser to remember that you have seen and dismissed our cookie notice banner, so we do not show it to you again on the same device.
We do not currently use, and these cookies and local storage items are not used for, third-party advertising, cross-site tracking, or analytics of any kind.
Categories of Cookies We Use
For clarity, here is how the cookies and local storage described above map to the categories commonly used in cookie policies:
- Strictly necessary — in use (always on). Covers fx_token, fx_uid, fx_email, fx_guest, and the fx_quiz_draft / celestype.cookieConsent local storage items above. These cannot be switched off individually, because the Service cannot run login, sessions, or guest continuity without them.
- Analytics / performance — not currently used. We do not currently set any cookies to measure site usage, traffic, or performance. If we introduce analytics in the future, we will update this policy first and, where required by law, ask for your consent before doing so.
- Advertising / targeting — none. We do not set any cookies for advertising, ad measurement, or cross-site behavioral targeting.
Your Choices
When you first visit Celestype, we show a cookie notice banner letting you know that we use essential cookies. Dismissing the banner is recorded in the celestype.cookieConsent local storage item described above, so we do not show it to you again on the same device and browser.
You can also control cookies and local storage through your browser settings — most browsers let you view, delete, or block cookies from specific sites, and clear local storage, either for one site or across all sites you visit.
Because fx_token, fx_uid, fx_email, and fx_guest are strictly necessary, blocking or deleting them will sign you out and may prevent core features — such as logging in, keeping your session, or preserving guest progress — from working correctly. Clearing fx_quiz_draft will discard any in-progress quiz answers that have not yet been submitted.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we introduce new features or change which cookies and similar technologies we use. If we make a material change — such as beginning to use analytics or advertising cookies — we will update the effective date below and take reasonable steps to notify you, such as a notice on the Service.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies and similar technologies.
